MEET ROB KING, OUR LOGO ARTIST OF 2006
The Bluefish Festival Committee first met Rob in 2004, when he volunteered to
design our logo. At that time the Tracy Art Center had advised us of a very
talented young man named Rob King who lived in Clinton, and recommended we
contact him to see if he was interested in doing some artwork for us to use on
our tshirts, advertising, posters, etc. 2004 celebrated the 30th anniversary of
the festival, and we wanted a theme and a logo that emphasized our 30th
anniversary. We were extremely pleased with his work, and our logo was a hit
that year! It was our original intent to begin showcasing a different local
artist each year to design a logo for our festival. This year, however, after
our committee saw a small cartoon of a fish playing a musical instrument (in a
copy of a book entitled Food Festivals USA--and yes, The Clinton Bluefish
Festival was the festival representing CT in this book, complete with local
resident, Rotary member, and past Spirit of Clinton Award recipient Rich
Onofrio's recipe for Grilled Bluefish!), we knew we wanted a logo based off of
this cartoon image idea.
Knowing right away that Rob's style was a perfect match for what we wanted, we
asked Rob to help us out again, and he graciously agreed to design our logo for
2006 and went right to work on it for us. We are very grateful to Rob for his
time, great talent, and hard work in designing our logo for us-- not once, but
twice--Rob's willingness to volunteer in assisting us with the festival is very
much appreciated, and our committee wishes to thank him for his volunteer spirit
and generosity with his time and talents.
Robert King attended the Art Institute of Boston where he majored in
illustration. After years of freelance work, and other odd jobs, he found
himself where he works today, as a creative director of conceptual illustration,
animation, as well as web, print and multi-media design at Sonalysts, Inc. in
Waterford, Ct.
